Fall outfit and Prince Charles' frugal patchwork jacket

Scarf: thrifted (wool*) // Sweater: thrifted (50/50 merino wool/acrylic) // Jacket: Barbour Beadnell wax jacket //  Jeans: thrifted in Lisbon, altered Levi's 501 (cotton) // Sneakers: Nike's, swap party

My intention with posting outfit photos is mostly to inspire myself to wear what I already have in my wardrobe, and to elevate the items I could easily bore of if I didn't document them. I'm expecting that the amateur outfit photos won't inspire you to shop new things, but rather to take a look at what you actually wear that's already in your wardrobe and celebrate the hard workers: the easy items you reach for over and over.

This is an outfit I would typically wear every day. I got everything in '17/'18, but each item has already gotten a lot of use. The jeans were three sizes too big, but I loved the wash and the silky feel of the used denim, so I just washed them in hot water (to shrink them a little) before sewing them in on both sides. I broke a few needles on the sewing machine in the process, but they feel very much mine after spending the time customizing them.

A layer of mystery is added thinking of the Portuguese man that might have worn in the jeans for me... I could go on and on about my love for denim, how the color and fabric changes, how they are solid and forgiving at the same time, how they soften with time, like a good relationship(...). Major tip: Jean stories, stories about people and their jeans. You're in for a treat if you're a denimhead like me. Unfortunately, they don't update anymore, but the archive is rich.

Regarding the Barbour jacket, I was a bit hesitant to purchase it because of its preppy connotations - or am I imagining things? Either way, it's a classic for a reason, and very useful in Scandinavian transitional weather. I don't know if I will mend it as much as Prince Charles (see pic below), but at least his is proof you can keep a wax jacket for decades with some TLC, which justifies the price point.

(*Sorry about the fabric name-dropping, but I'm obsessed with fabrics and think of natural fibers as a crucial way to keep a durable, small wardrobe. If the percentage is not stated, the fabric is 100% one fiber.)
